HUMAN RIGHTS

UN Declaration

“We are human only through the humanity of other human beings” (Nelson Mandela)

“Every single human being has rights that are intrinsic to who they are, they don’t depend on whether you are educated, whether you are clever, they don’t depend on any of that, they depend on the fact that you are human.” (Desmond Tutu)

On December 10, 1948 the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

In 2008, the Elders (a group of leaders convened to contribute their wisdom, independent leadership and integrity to tackling some of the world's toughest problems) called for its 60th anniversary to be a time when each of us chooses to take human rights into our daily lives, individually and collectively.
