DRUGS TRADE

Comment

The illegal drugs trade is the largest and most profitable organised crime in the world.

At the beginning of the supply line, there may vulnerable workers in fields and factories including trafficked workers (eg suspected child workers in a cannabis factory in the West Midlands).

At the end of the supply line, there may be addicts, recreational drug users and people using drugs as a method of exploitation in “Date Rape”. For support and information visit The Havens and The Roofie Foundation.

Drugs are also used to control people who have been trafficked. Visit Asia News to read about this.

Within the supply line there are many opportunities for people to act illegally and profit out of exploitation. People may be used as “mules” in situations which may cross over into human trafficking. Story One. Story Two.

Definition

The illegal drug trade involves illicit production, distribution, sale, possession and purchase of prohibited drugs.
