About Us

Welcome to the Open Horizon website

The Open Horizon action-research group was formed to investigate Human Trafficking, primarily in relation to trafficking for the sex industry. However, the group realised that this ‘many-tentacled monster’ spreads into many other areas. We began to use the mind map concept in an attempt to link it together (click here to download this for use as a discussion starter in groups which do not have Internet access). This, in turn, led to the choice of the neurons image for the home page of the website.

This site is therefore an attempt to pull together a range of information and our thinking about the complex issues. The aim is to help others learn and better understand how concerted action can be taken to end this appalling and exploitative practice. There are no easy answers, but we hope this resource will help you to wrestle with the questions and be challenged to get involved in the solutions.

The group’s work was supported by Women’s Network and by Formation in World Mission of the British Methodist Church. Members came from a variety of backgrounds and interests, and all were open to new experiences in their willingness to enter challenging situations as they learnt about the subject.
